Asphalt microsurfacing in India is a low-cost, long-term commercial pavement resurfacing method widely utilised in rural and urban roads including highways. It is a cold-mix polymer-modified paving solution that provides a fresh new surface for existing commercial pavements. Best of all, it contains fast-setting ingredients, so it sets quickly after application, making a surface ready for traffic in as little as one or two hours! When compared to other types of pavement overlays and coatings, such as slurry seal, which can take at least 24 hours to fully cure!
Composition
Water, asphalt emulsion, aggregate (very finely crushed rock), and chemical additives are the most frequent micro-surfacing material mixtures in India. It is available in two major grades: fine grade and heavy grade. Fine grade micro-seal is a blend of finer aggregate, emulsified asphalt, mineral fillers, and polymers. This makes it a good choice for calm regions with low traffic. Heavy grade micro-seal is made from the same ingredients as standard grade micro-seal, but with a bigger aggregate. The version picked is determined on the present state and porosity of a paved surface.
Application of Micro surfacing in India
The paving team will first check and repair any surface faults with the pavement. This involves performing small repairs like crack filling and pothole repair. After all surface imperfections and issues have been addressed, a thorough sweep for debris removal will be performed. It is critical that the pavement surface be free of any solid material, such as garbage, leaves, twigs, dirt, and so on. This provides appropriate adhesion and bonding. When the surface is finished, a paving truck pours the material over it, while a ground team smooths it into position with paving rakes and tools. The pavement is ready to be refinished after the micro-surfacing has completed dried. This includes things like road-marking, road furniture signages, etc.
Major Benefits of Asphalt Resurfacing Service
In India, micro-surfacing has several advantages. It is not only less expensive than a new asphalt overlay, but it is also easier to apply, cures quickly, provides UV protection from intense sun exposure, extends the life of existing pavement by 5 to 7 years, and, most importantly, creates a stable, durable, safe, and aesthetically pleasing surface.
The system is a low-cost solution for increasing the road profile and skid resistance of an existing blacktop or concrete pavement.
Microsurfacing in India permits the surface to be used by traffic within 90 minutes of application during typical weather conditions, with ambient temperatures not surpassing 35 C and the aggregate reactivity being favourable.
When compared to other surface methods in India, microsurfacing produces less tyre noise and no hazardous emissions during application and cure.
Because there is no need to elevate curbs and manholes, and no tack coat is required, the application method ensures little disturbance to traffic prior to its installation.
